Planning A Day Trip

Exploring One Day at a Time

Good news I'm almost done with my Yellowstone Scrapbook!  That trip was beyond amazing!  Looking back at our pictures just don't do it justice, but that’s always the case isn’t it?

Bison at Old Faithful

So today I'm going to share with you how I plan a day trip.  For example, when I have to travel farther than usual, to an area I don’t normally go.  In this instance I’m going to use Medieval Times.  Not everything I plan is something as big and detailed as the Disney trip.

First thing I usually do is put in the address from home to the location and look in the surrounding area. Looking at the map, I can easily disregard any food locations since we would be eating there, but I just take what is within a mile or so of the location and see if anything pops up that could be interesting then do some basic research.  It looks like Meadowlands Museum is close so I would look into that, check hours, etc.

Our own personal preference is usually a brewery.  We love trying new beers & here in New Jersey it’s “bring your own food”.  So most likely prior to going we will bring snacks, grab a drink, & meet up at Medieval Times afterwards.  I’ll check out the breweries based on ratings and types of beer since we like certain styles.  I obviously make a note of their hours as well to make sure it will work with our plans.

The ones in the area that spiked my interest:

Ghost Hawk Brewing

On Tap - Bolero Snort Brewery

That's it my day is planned.  Simple and easy probably took me about ½ hours overall to look into.  I do the same with soccer games that are far away, horse shows, etc.  If I’m not usually traveling to the area or it’s far, I like to make the trip worth it.

Any questions, suggestions, or comments let me know.

Happy Planning!
