New Year...New Plans!


🎆Hey, there!  Happy New Year!🎆

    Not really sure where to start but I should let you all know I am a "Planner".  I like to know things ahead of time and probably go a bit overboard.  I plan everything from vacations (obviously) to day trips, such as hikes.  I even plan for my gardens & Christmas shopping.  I'll share most of what I do plan out and you'll think I'm crazy, but that's ok.

    So, with the new year underway I'm currently working on getting back into the swing of things again but being a planner obviously I have to be planning something.  What am I working on currently you ask?  Well for the month of January I am focusing on our Florida trip in March.  Yes, Disney...BUT also the Keys.  The first 1/2 of the trip we'll be spent in Disney and the second half "relaxing" in the Keys.  We've been to both a few times but there are always new things to do.  This is probably going to be our last trip to Disney for quite some time.  We like to travel other places and Disney is just too expensive...even with staying off site (which we do).

    Currently I have Disney planned out for the most part.  I'm just waiting on our 60-day mark to make dining reservations.  On this trip we are focusing on "treats & drinks".  We have TONS of gift cards to pay our way through our food & drink tours.  I'm not one of those people who spends $100pp each day in the park...to me that's INSANE! I've already spent enough on the trip itself I can't see spending that much more.

    How did I gather all this info you ask?  Social media of course.  Between Instagram, Pinterest, and just searching through google for sites & blogs is how I gather most of my information.

    Can't forget the 2nd half of our trip The Keys.  I haven't starting planning anything yet.  Without a doubt, there will be places I want to go that we've been, but I like finding new places as well.  I've been many times but never found a chance to go to the Meadery so that's on my list to look into.  I also want to go to a National Park...and there are quite a few in the area.  We've been to the Everglades National Park but there are more in the area we want to check out.

Is It March Yet?     I wanted to start off this post by telling you what I use to plan everything.  GOOGLE!   I mainly focus on Google Docs and Forms.  Why Google?   User friendly, although I will admit it’s not as “pretty” as Microsoft… it’s FREE !      I’ve basically finished my Disney plans …so our hotel, car, non-park days, and of course park days.  Below is a breakdown of everything and a link to my Google Doc for Disney.  As I’ve mentioned we’re not staying on Disney grounds.  Sorry not sorry but I would rather save money for future trips and events.  Even if it’s your first time I don’t see the point in spending $10k on a trip to an amusement park.  I spent LESS than that for TWO big trips in 2022 (8-day cruise which included our drink package & a room with a balcony and a 7-day trip to Yellowstone with car rental, hotel, flight & all the fun stuff). Planning A Day Trip

  Exploring One Day at a Time Good news I'm almost done with my Yellowstone Scrapbook!  That trip was beyond amazing!  Looking back at our pictures just don't do it justice, but that’s always the case isn’t it? Bison at Old Faithful So today I'm going to share with you how I plan a day trip.  For example, when I have to travel farther than usual, to an area I don’t normally go.  In this instance I’m going to use Medieval Times.  Not everything I plan is something as big and detailed as the Disney trip. First thing I usually do is put in the address from home to the location and look in the surrounding area. Looking at the map, I can easily disregard any food locations since we would be eating there, but I just take what is within a mile or so of the location and see if anything pops up that could be interesting then do some basic research.  It looks like Meadowlands Museum is close so I would look into that, check hours, etc. Our own personal prefere...
